The Scientific Revolution
The scientific revolution was not simply a period during which Europeans made significant advances in mathematics, astronomy, chemistry, physics, and medicine. The scientific revolution encompassed a series of changes in the way that Europeans thought. In the completion of this project, you will address both of these components of the scientific revolution.
Tasks
Day 1: ___________________
Choose a figure of the scientific revolution to research (see list handed out in class)
Complete your research about that person using the notes sheet provided. You should collect all of the following:
Save images that may be useful in the creation of an informational brochure
Keep track of your sources—create a bibliography in Microsoft Word
Think about why this person's innovation is important. Write one good paragraph (5-6 sentences) that explains the significance of the innovation, either during that time period or today. THIS SECTION WILL BE PRIMARILY YOUR OWN ORIGINAL IDEAS!

Begin creating your brochure in Microsoft Publisher
Create these panels:
Day 3: ___________________
Present your brochure and newly discovered knowledge to the class in a science fair setting. You must prepare a two minute informative presentation. Presentations during which students read their brochures will receive no credit.
Grading Criteria
ü Provides thorough background information on chosen scientist 15 points
ü Provides detailed description of the innovation or discovery 15 points
ü Includes thoughtful analysis of the significance of the innovation 10 points
ü Bibliography included and in appropriate format 5 points
ü Use of images to further reader’s understanding of content 5 points
ü Layout and overall neatness of brochure 5 points
ü Informative and well-organized presentation 10 points
