Introduction
You are going to research some of the men who ruled as “Caesar” over the Roman
Empire. As you proceed through the research process, it will become apparent that the position of Emperor of Rome required certain unique qualities. You must identify the three strongest rulers of Rome and then choose just one to be your ultimate "Caesar".

The Task
As you sit in your villa, overlooking the splendor of Rome, you spot the following ad in the newspaper;
 
  Help Wanted
                     The Imperial Roman Senate is seeking qualified individuals for
                     the Position of Chief Operating officer of the Roman Empire.
                     Candidates should be highly motivated, have some experience
                     dealing with Barbarian Hordes, and not be averse to throwing
                     Christians to the lions. Interested candidates should submit
                     Cover Letters and Resume’ to:

                          Xvii Appian Way
                          Rome, Italy Xxvii

As a professional talent scout, you realize this is your big chance to score with the Senate. You will research the local Caesar database and fill out job applications for the three strongest candidates. Having narrowed your search, you will bring forward your top candidate for the job. You must create a professional resume' for your top candidate.

You will turn in a formal resume’ for a character of your own creation. This person should combine qualities of the three Caesar's that you researched. In other words, you will create a “composite” Caesar that shares the life experiences of the men you researched.

The following website will provide you with brief biographies of each of the emperors:

The Process
Stage 1:   Click on the line The Caesar Index.  At this site, you may access biographies of the Caesar's.
 Pick three individuals from the “Online Encyclopedia of Roman Emperors” and complete and fill out the "Job Application handouts". (Choose men with more extensive biographies so the handout is easier to fill out).

Stage 2: On a separate sheet of paper, list the common types of experiences, characteristics, and/or tendencies that these men share.

Stage 3:  You will turn in a formal  resume’ for a character of your own creation. This person should have a combination of all the information collected on the job applications. In other words, you will create a “composite” Caesar that shares the life experiences of the men you researched.
 
 

Using the Microsoft Word Resume' Templates
Open Microsoft Word and click on the FILE menu. Under the NEW icon, you will find a number of resume’ templates. You may use one of these wizard tools to begin the assignment
 

Conclusion:
This project gave you an opportunity to better understand the leaders of Rome. The Roman Resume' web quest has also given you an opportunity to learn a real life skill that many of you will need in the future.

Evaluation:
You will be evaluated on completion of the three "Job application handouts", comparison sheet, and the Roman Resume.
