Prerequisite: 15 years of age, pass 8 credit hours in the previous two
semesters,
sophomore standing, and a social security number.
There is a $325 fee for Driver Education.
This course fulfills the state of Illinois requirement: 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours behind-the-wheel. Classroom includes the driving task, interacting with traffic, driving in different environments and conditions, and responsibilities as a driver. Behind-the-wheel includes actual on-the-street driving to develop basic driving skills. Instruction is given in a dual-control automobile by a state-certified instructor.
DRIVER EDUCATION FOR PAROCHIAL SCHOOL STUDENTS
The Board of Education authorizes the offering of driver education courses to District 208 high school students who attend parochial schools.
